19th C Miniature Portrait of Sarah Siddons After Gilbert Stuart – Signed Gaston

A mid‑19th‑century miniature portrait of the actress Sarah Siddons (1755–1831). The image is taken from an engraving after Gilbert Stuart’s 1787 portrait (National Portrait Gallery, London). The composition is reversed, consistent with miniatures copied from mezzotint engravings of the period.

 

Signed “Gaston” at the lower left. Presented in an ornate Victorian cast‑brass frame with crest.

A well‑executed Victorian miniature of a major theatrical figure. The original portrait from the National Portrait Gallery is in the photos for reference.

 

Sarah Siddons (née Kemble; born 5 July 1755 died 8 June 1831) was a Welsh actress, the best-known tragedienne of the 18th century.
