Antique Engraving of Queen Elizabeth I – Laid Paper – After Crispijn de Passe –

Antique engraved portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, based on the famous 1603 memorial engraving by Crispijn de Passe the Elder.

As you can see on the photographs, the paper shows laid texture consistent with pre‑ 19th century production. The print remains in an older frame with the retailer’s label “R.D. Barker & Co., Stonegate, York”.

I have not removed the print from the frame, so the plate mark, watermark and sheet edges have not been inspected. Sold as found.

Condition: 

- Visible age to paper 

- A few foxing spots

- A fine line barely visible where print has not taken (see photo)

- Frame backing paper aged and taped 

- No cleaning or restoration attempted 

- Glass intact

Approx. 33cm x 46 cm for the print image and approx 46cm x 62cm for the frame
