Depicts three soldiers of the Northumberland Fusiliers in full dress uniform: red tunics with white cuffs, black trousers with red stripes, and distinctive headgear. The soldier on the left wears a white apron over his tunic; the centre figure holds a rifle at ease; the rightmost soldier wears a tall black fur hat. Captioned “NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS.” below image. Simkin’s signature appears lower left.

A visually engaging composition with strong contrast between uniform types and headgear. Particularly suited to collectors of fusilier regiments or those documenting British infantry dress in the late Victorian period.
