Northumberland Fusiliers – 1891 Chromolithograph Lithograph by Richard Simkin
£150.00
Original chromolithograph dated 1891, illustrated by Richard Simkin. Depicts three soldiers of the Northumberland Fusiliers in full dress uniform: red tunics with white cuffs, black trousers with red stripes, and distinctive headgear. The soldier on the left wears a white apron over his tunic; the centre figure holds a rifle at ease; the rightmost soldier wears a tall black fur hat. Captioned “NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS.” below image. Simkin’s signature appears lower left.

Please note the print has been protected with glossy cellophane wrapping which impacts on the photograph. I have included an enhanced photograph to show how it may look without wrapping and under high colour temperature light.
On the reverse is a sticker from Storey’s Ltd., a known dealer of antique prints and ephemera.
A visually engaging composition with strong contrast between uniform types and headgear. Particularly suited to collectors of fusilier regiments or those documenting British infantry dress in the late Victorian period.
